According to Truist analysts, Light & Wonder may already be in discussions with partner operators about other possible games to replace Dragon Train.
Charles had Aristocrat's trade secrets
As mentioned above, Charles was a former member of Aristocrat's development team and played a key role in the development of the Dragon Link game. Aristocrat eventually noticed the strange similarities between the two titles and sued Light & Wonder in court, alleging that Charles had stolen ideas and mathematical models from her former employer.
In Aristocrat's lawsuit, Charles claimed that he had full access to confidential information about Dragon's Dragon Link and Lighting Link games and the features that made them successful.
Aristocrat managed to win a preliminary victory in the legal battle, which resulted in a Nevada District Court injunction blocking Light & Wonder from profiting from Dragon Train. The company will also be asked to remove all Dragon Train engines by October 23.
Charles is not the only one caught up in the lawsuit. Game designer Dinh Toan Tran also came under fire for allegedly downloading several confidential files before leaving the company.
Truist reiterates L& amp; W's "buy" rating despite failure
Light & amp; Wonder's shares fell sharply after the Nevada District Court ruled on the partnership with Aristocrat. Although the stock price fell 22%, the company expressed confidence in its 2025 EBITDA guidance.
Truist analysts are also bullish on Light & amp; Wonder's business despite the shortfall and reiterated their buy rating on the company, echoing earlier statements by Macquarie.
